Family Skills Training
The Rochester Center for Autism believes that Individual Skills Training (IST), in conjunction with Family Skills Training (FST), is an important combination of services to increase your child’s progress. During FST the Center will assist the family and other caregivers in learning best methods to interact with and teach your child to promote success using methods of ABA and VB. The teaching is done through discussion and observation, and hands-on time where the parent or caregiver is coached while working directly with their child. Home concerns can also be addressed during this time to help create plans tailored to specifically address the family’s needs. The amount of time spent in Family Skills Training will be determined through discussion between the family and Program Supervisor.
